The Canaanite Woman’s Faith That Moved Jesus By Ismael Burciaga

Jesus and His disciples were walking near Tyre and Sidon when a Canaanite woman ran up to Him, her face full of worry and her eyes filled with tears. “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me!” she cried. “My daughter is very sick. An evil spirit is hurting her!” But Jesus didn’t answer. The disciples, annoyed by her persistence, urged Him to send her away. Still, the woman refused to give up. She fell to her knees before Jesus. “Lord, please help me!” Jesus finally spoke, “I was sent to help the people of Israel.” But the woman remained bold. She knew He had the power to heal.

Jesus tested her faith further. “It’s not right to take the children’s bread and give it to the dogs,” He said. But the woman humbly replied, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Seeing her unwavering faith, Jesus smiled and said, “Woman, you have great faith! Your daughter is healed.” At that very moment, her daughter was made well. Overjoyed, the woman ran home, knowing her child was finally free.
