Ruth’s Faithful Journey By Ismael Burciaga
In the land of Moab, a woman named Naomi mourned the loss of her husband and two sons. With nothing left, she decided to return to her homeland, Bethlehem. She urged her daughters-in-law, Orpah and Ruth, to stay in Moab and rebuild their lives. Orpah tearfully left, but Ruth clung to Naomi, declaring, “Where you go, I will go; where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.”
Together, Naomi and Ruth arrived in Bethlehem, where Ruth worked in the fields to provide for them. She gleaned grain in the fields of Boaz, a kind and wealthy relative of Naomi’s late husband. Boaz took notice of Ruth’s dedication and protected her, offering her more than she needed.
Naomi saw an opportunity for Ruth’s future and guided her to seek Boaz as a redeemer. Following Naomi’s instructions, Ruth humbly approached Boaz, who admired her loyalty and agreed to marry her, redeeming Naomi’s family name.
Ruth and Boaz were blessed with a son, Obed, who would become the grandfather of King David, and through his lineage, the Savior, Jesus Christ, would be born. Ruth’s faithfulness and devotion turned sorrow into redemption, showing how God works through those who trust Him.
